The Programme

'Pups' are your littlest members of our pack. From years 3&4 'Pups' will begin to learn the very basics of the game we all love. Based on up to 60-minutes, these kids will play a game and will have skill sessions focused on learning the basics of Water Polo. We keep the pool depth at 1.2m so they can stand as well as swim!

Cubs Once our 'Pups' reach years 5&6 they will graduate to deep water games and will again be with the pack for up to 60-minutes. During this time 'Cubs' will progress from the basics they learnt as 'Pups', developing skills to prepare them to take on the full game of Water Polo. During this time, they will focus on learning to egg beat, correct catching and passing techniques and movement through the water.

The Water Wolves difference

Even though our games are based on Water Polo and similar to Flippaball, the foundation of Water Wolves is an 'age and stage' development programme. The key differences are:

  • 60-minutes of fun

    • Forget the 20-minute drive to the pool for a 15 minute game. All the kids get 60-minutes of action packed fun.

  • Skills and games

    • There will be no time for getting bored. There's loads of action as the kids get a game and skill sessions, all wrapped up in one.

  • Smaller ball

    • Kids have smaller hands so it makes sense to have a smaller ball. A smaller ball means more touches, and more touches means more fun!

  • Smaller goals

    • Goalkeeping is tought at the best of times. Smaller goals helps with improving goalkeeping technique and for more shooting scenarios to be practiced.

  • Revised ejection area

    • Fouls are part of the game, so we are managing and embracing them by having immediate substitutions and we're not keeping count of fouls. More confidence equals more fun!
